This is my very old, rusty, squeaky music box that plays "what child is this. " it's so old that it plays really slowly, so i had to speed it up electronically. You can even hear the whirs it makes.

I got hold of an old sony dat machine (tcd-d10 pro) and noticed a very interesting sound when i opened the door to the cassette compartment. The sound was recorded with an olympus ls-14 and was slightly edited in wavosaur.

My childhood piano, an old german upright. Recorded using a studio projects b3 condenser mic through a presonus tubepre into an akai mpc1000. Mic'd from the top with the lid up, closer to the bass end. The piano is old and slightly out of tune, with a crack in the soundboard. The only processing was with analogx autotune to tune the samples, which did a very good job. Sampled 3 notes per octave so each sample only needs to be tuned + or - a semitone to span the whole range. It is a dark and moody sounding, a lot of character but in now way "pristine".

Needed the exceptionally specific sound of putting an old book into an old hiking backpack. This is that sound. The recording starts with me the backpack off, before placing the book into the backpack and throwing the backpack back over my shoulder.
